The PE and Sports premium provides additional, ring-fenced funding to schools to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport they offer.
We write a yearly action plan for our Sport Premium and assess the impact of this. We ensure our improvements are sustainable by investing in staff training and development and quality resources as part of this.
For the academic year 2017 to 2018, schools with 17 or more pupils receive £16,000 plus £10 per pupil. Calder Primary School will receive £16,440.
Sainsbury's School Games
In September 2017 we were awarded our Silver School Games Award, in recognition of all the great sporting activities our pupils take part in both in school and in local competitions. This builds on our achievement of Silver in 2016 and 2015 and Bronze in 2014.
We are now working towards Gold for 2017 by increasing participation in School Games events and by developing a School Games Committee of pupils to oversee PE in school and champion it.
